Kuching Day 1

This year round it was only my parents and I for the year-end holiday family trip. Since Ken is staying in Adelaide and Korkor having a jolly good time in Europe.

Left at 6 a.m. for KLIA and got a quick bite at the Asian Cafe.

Apparently at this Cafe, A grain of rice can substitute a foosball doubles game.

More like Asian Cuisine.

Arrived at Hilton, Kuching after midday and checked in. Mom and dad really liked the christmas decorations there. They whole hotel had a theme of branches of sorts. Just pluck them, spray them gold, and stick them together. Pretty neat, though.

The first day was just a laze-around-and-check-out-surroundings so we drifted from the hotel travel agent to outside stalls to the waterfront. And found these:

Super La La VCD Shop.

"Selamat Datang ke Pusat Torture Kuching."

Ate at the waterfront. Found a little cafe hut.

Ate Dinner at TopSpot which is located at the top of a parking lot building nearby. There were about 10 open-air hawker stalls which sold exactly the same seafood dishes, so whoever got to the new customers first, wins.

Lovely cheese prawns and milk powder crabs. hehe.

Kuching was mostly a chill-out getaway from the smoky and hectic KL just to cool down with a change of scenery. And also just for some bonding with mom and dad.

Kuching Day 2 will be up after the next one:

Hello from Kuching

on Wednesday, December 19, 2007

Wahai kawan-kawanku dari Kuala Lumpur.

It's supposed to be pouring like mamas eating bananas here in Kuching, but apparently the weather was very well inaccurately predicted. We did some jungle trekking at the Bako National Park yesterday which costed my dad and I RM185 per head. What a rip-off for just a 3-hour sweaty and aching hike through bushes infested with insects and monkies, while us having to refrain from scratching ourselves to death due to insect bites.

A thought for a beloved one

Whenever people say the word Sarawak, usually all that would come to your mind is this:

But all that Kuching looks like is only so similar to what is located in Kuala Lumpur, just that it's much more peaceful and a little cooler than in peninsular Malaysia.

Also, the highest number of car horns you can hear in one day does not exceed three.

We did the cultural village today. Saw the 7 different types of houses and cultures adopted by the main ethnic groups in Sarawak.

Apparently, the name of the city did not originate from this mammal. It is said that neither the government nor spoken history can explain a clear reason for it.

Okay that's all for today. I'll be back tomorrow, probably at midnight. Catch yall soon!

PS: When I was at the cultural village, I saw a very peculiar phenomenon that really caught my attention. I quote it "It must be the aliens."

My name is Jon without a H. They call me the boy who's in the wrong academic course - I'm doing ACCA. You'll figure out the rest.

I sway in and out of basketball, rock climbing, frisbee and gym-ing as sports, but I always stick to graphic design and photography. My dream is to either start and develop an advertising and design company, or design and implement a revolutionary accounting and control system for a multi-national IT company. Sounds crazy?

Watch me!

Oh, and I'm a massive Taylor Swift fan.
